Musikalliansens' principal task is being an employer to freelance musicians. Musikalliansen also supports the independent music life through training courses, seminars, open discussions and co-operation with other actors within the area of music. The enterprise is financed by state grants via the Swedish National Council for Cultural Affairs. Musikalliansen is run in the form of a limited company and its owner are Svensk Scenkonst, Svenska Musikerförbundet, Symf, Teaterförbundet and Trygghetsrådet TRS.
