Investigation into freelance musicians in Sweden and their working conditions
In autumn 2009 Musikalliansen intends to investigate what it is like to work and live as a freelance musician. The objective of the investigation is to gain more knowledge on practising freelance musicians in Sweden and their forms of work. This survey is to create a basis for Musikalliansen’s employment and other ventures and to call attention to the freelance musicians’ employment market with the aim of improving conditions in terms of mobility on the employment market nationally and internationally. The project is ongoing during 2010 with a survey for fee lance musicians in Sweden.
Musikalliansen is the organization responsible for the investigation that is carried out by Statistics Sweden after consultation with the Swedish National Council for Cultural Affairs, the Swedish Arts Grants Committee and Sweden’s academies of music.
